Wood Buffalo receives full Five Star rating in WinterLights Celebrations
Wood Buffalo has received a Five Star rating in its first year participating in the National WinterLights Celebrations competition and a special mention in Youth Leadership in Goodwill Programs, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo announced on March 8, 2010.
About WinterLights
WinterLights Celebrations is the winter edition of Communities in Bloom. The program promotes the involvement of citizens and volunteers of all ages, the municipal government, service organizations, and commercial businesses. WinterLights Celebrations encourages communities to showcase their winter activities, festive celebrations and visual decorations that promote Canada’s appeal as a winter tourism destination and improve the quality of life in communities across the country.
Volunteer judges for WinterLights Celebrations evaluate the community in December based on five criteria: Visual Presentations, Winter Pleasures, Festive Season Celebrations, Goodwill Programs and Tourism Promotion.
