Please review your content and ensure ALL of the following items have been addressed before submiting a page for approval: Standard Webpage Formatting
Layout guidelines for creating or editing web pages
1. General Page Format
Picture (Banner Image) (If applicable)
When creating a NEW page, and a relevant banner image is available and applicable, please select the page type GENERAL CONTENT 2, create the webpage, and after submitting it for approval, email the relevant image to Deirdre.Prickisie@woodbuffalo.ab.ca and the banner will be inserted prior to publishing.
Page Title
Limit to 5 words maximum to avoid wrapping of heading text with a maximum of 40 characters. 3 words is recommended if possible (I would also provide a maximum number of characters – what if they choose 3-5 very long words)
Subtitle / Overview of Content
Select HEADING 2 under the formatting styles and provide a simple sentence describing what the page or content is about.
Information / Content
Please see guidelines below for formatting.
An example of a page that “somewhat” adheres to the above format is:
http://www.woodbuffalo.ab.ca/Municipal-Government/municipal_departments/rcmp.htm
2. Resize images to under 1MB in size BEFORE uploading to Digital Assets
View step by step instructions here
3. Contact information formatting
Contact information must adhere to the following formatting:
Firstname Lastname / Department
Title (if applicable)
T (780) 743-7000
4. Bullets and numbers lists formatting
Please ONLY use the bullets and number features within the website content manager. These features have been custom styled for each website section. DO NOT copy your bullets and numbering from Microsoft word as this will not format correctly online.
5. Links & Menus - restrictions, placement and formatting
Please DO NOT duplicate links that already appear on the left hand navigation in your content area. An example of what NOT to do is: http://www.woodbuffalo.ab.ca/living_2227/Beautification.htm
If you must make reference to a link that already appears on the left hand navigation, please place the link “in-line” as part of your sentence.
Give an example of what you are asking, so people clearly understand.
All web pages submitted for approval will be reviewed and edited at the discretion of the Online Advisor. To avoid delays in publishing your content, please use the contact information below to ask any questions you may have before submitting your content for approval.
