MacDonald Island Park Corporation Board

Responsibilities

  • Approve, where appropriate, policy and other recommendations received from the Board, its standing committees and Chief Operating Offier.
  • Monitor all Board policies.
  • Review memorandum and articles of association and recommend changes.
  • Review the Board’s structure and approve changes.
  • Participate in the development of MacDonald Island Park Corporation’s organizational plan and annual review.
  • Approve MacDonald Island Park Corporation’s budget.
  • Approve the hiring and release of the Chief Operating Officer, including the Chief Operating Officer’s employment contract.
  • Support and participate in evaluating the performance of the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining positive relations among the Board, Chief Operating Officer and community to enhance MacDonald Island Park Corporation’s mission.

Time Commitment

One meeting per month – approximately 2-3 hours in length (meetings are currently held on the fourth Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m.).

Eligibility

  • Must be 18 years of age;
  • Must be an eligible voter of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo;
  • Must not have the status of bankrupt;
  • Must not have been found to be mentally incompetent or of unsound mind by a court; and
  • Must not have been convicted of an indictable or criminal offence involving fraud.
