RCMP and Bylaw Services
Royal Canadian Mounted Police
The RCMP is Canada's national police service, providing law enforcement services in detachments across the country. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo contracts the RCMP to provide police services for its citizens. The RCMP is proud of our traditions and confident in meeting future challenges. The RMWB's RCMS Detachment is commited to preserving the peace, upholding the law and providing quality service in partnership with our communities.
The Fort McMurray RCMP Detachment consists of both Provincial and Municipal civilian staff that provide administrative services to the RCMP. The Detachment currently has 95 dedicated RCMP members including Fort Chipewyan, with a support staff of approximately 30.

Bylaw Services
The Bylaw Services Unit is under the direct supervision of the RCMP and is located in the city of Fort McMurray. Bylaw Services Unit is available to raise awareness and compliance with various bylaws within the Municipality. The Bylaw Enforcement Division presently has a Chief Bylaw Enforcement Officer, Bylaw Coordinator, 11 Bylaw Field Officers, two Parking Enforcement Officers, a Traffic Court Clerk, Clerk Typist and Bylaw Clerk.
There are two contractors reporting to the Bylaw Unit those being - Animal Control contracted to S.P.C.A. and Photo Enforcement contracted to C.H.O.I.C.E.S
