Due to air quality deterioration caused by fires burning in Northern Alberta, Alberta Health Services is advising residents to take precautions against health risks associated with current air conditions. People with respiratory conditions are advised to remain indoors, keep their windows closed and limit outdoor physical activity. People who experience difficulty breathing should consult their physicians. For more information go to: Alberta Health Services

Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs)
- Before you ride, inspect your OHV and clear out any debris that has built up near the exhaust and under the seat.
- After riding through muskeg or tall grassy areas, stop and remove any potential fire starting debris. Dispose of hot debris sagely by making sure it is out.
- When riding, always carry a small fire extinguisher and collapsible shovel.
- Wash your OHV regularly, and stay out of streams and creeks.
- Ensure the muffler and spark arrestors on your OHV are in good working condition. Any alterations to the factory components of an OHV are in good working condition. Any alterations to the factory components of an OHV can greatly increase the chance of stating a wildfire.
Discarded Cigarettes
- Never throw a lit cigarette or a hot match on the ground or out the window while driving.
- Always use a designated cigarette container.
- Dry grass, twigs or leaves can smolder next to cigarettes or hot matches before igniting and starting a forest fire.
- Always extinguish cigarettes completely before placing them in trash cans, fire pits or designated cigarette containers.
