Adopt-A-Park
The Adopt-A-Park program allows citizens to volunteer to beautify the open green spaces in their neighbourhood areas.
Eligible Areas
Eligible areas to adopt include island parks in neighbourhood interiors with or without trees, greenbelt areas, municipal land and trails.
Scope of Work
Adopting a park involves committing to the general beautification of a particular section of land. Beautification can include planting flower beds, vegetable gardens, and shrub beds as well as weeding and litter pickup. The Parks Division works closely and collaboratively with volunteers to maintain the adopted areas.
Recognition
Service organizations, volunteer groups and individuals will be paid an honorarium. Honorariums for businesses may be considered. Volunteers will be recognized by having the name of the group, business or individual placed on a sign on the adopted park or trail.
