Graffiti Awareness
Graffiti is defined as writing, drawing or symbols applied to any surface without the consent of the property owner, authorized agent or designate.
Graffiti is vandalism and it places a significant financial burden on those affected. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, residents and business owners are forced to spend money on building and property repairs, clean-up and resortation. The RMWB with funding from the Government of Alberta is working to eliminate graffiti in the region.

Graffiti vandals use a variety of materials such as spray paint, crayons and permanent ink to deface property.

Addressing the issue of graffiti is a shared responsibility in our community. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, businesses, residents and community groups all have a part to play.
Keep Up Your Neighbourhood
Make every effort to keep the appearance of your neighbourhood clean and neat. Remove litter and trash, fix broken fences, trim landscaping and ensure all lighting is working properly. Exterior appearances that suggest neglect attract vandals.
Remove Graffiti Promptly
Rapid and repeated removal is an effective prevention tool. Studies show that removal within 24 to 48 hours results in nearly a zero rate of reoccurence. Graffiti removal kits can be obtained by calling the Graffiti Hotline at (780) 799-5832.
