Phases of Envision Wood Buffalo

Envision Wood Buffalo was completed in three phases:

PHASE 1 - Public Engagement

This phase included the completion of a total of 24 engagement sessions throughout the region. The series of engagement sessions allowed for the exchange of dialogue on the Envision project and to gather information regarding community visions, end state goals and current realities as they relate to the social, cultural, environmental and economic aspects of quality of life within the community, and to identify short-term actions that will assist in bridging the gap between current reality and future states.

PHASE 2 - Report Development

This phase consisted of a report that defined regional community sustainability principles and measures, refined visions, goals & actions for all participating communities, and created a framework to continuously engage staff, residents and stakeholders to assess community visions, goals and sustainability measures over time.

PHASE 3 - Implementation, Monitoring & Assessment

This phase consisted of Municipal staff developing a plan to make sure each community's "vision to action framework" ccould be realized. This phase also helped to ensure that future development policies and growth scenarios are sustainable.

Envision Wood Buffalo is the combination of all three phases.
