Roots of Empathy Program

The Roots Of Empathy (ROE) program is a program for children in kindergarten to grade 8. The program's aim is to increase empathy - the ability to understand another person's feelings. Children learn to care and respect each other and there is less bullying and aggression.

"Roots of Empathy is about changing the world classroom by classroom"- Mary Gordon, Founder/President

ROE Presentation

Roots of Empathy in Action!

In the Roots of Empathy program, a parent and baby (who is two to four months old at the start of the school year) from the community visit a classroom nine times over the course of a school year. A trained Roots of Empathy instructor visits with the family to guide children as they observe the relationship between the baby and his/her parent.
