These awards are presented annually. Award presentations will be made in conjunction with other Municipal events or other community special events.

 

Nomination of Citizens:

Nominations will be forwarded to the Committee in written form. Nomination packages will be available from Parks, Recreation & Culture (Hardin Street Building), municipal hall (Jubilee Centre) at the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and at each Rural Municipal Contact Office.

Eligibility - Nominees must have resided in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo for at least one year.

Recognition - Each award winner will be invited to the ceremony as well as receive a personalized award. Their name will also appear on a publicly displayed plaque/trophy to be kept at the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

 

Distinguished Citizenship Award:

Purpose - To recognize an all-around outstanding citizen who contributes to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in a variety of functions and who exhibits those qualities which characterize a good citizen.

 

Distinguished Youth Citizenship Award:

Purpose - To recognize an all-around outstanding youth (under 18) who contributes to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in a variety of functions and who exhibits those qualities which characterize a good citizen.

 

Athletic Achievement Award:

Purpose – To recognize male and/or female individuals, teams or organizations who perform in an outstanding manner in a local, regional, national or international competition.

 

Cultural Achievement Award:

Purpose – To recognize individuals, groups or organizations who contribute in a significant manner to the cultural enhancement of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

 

Volunteer Achievement Award:

Purpose – To recognize an individual, group or organization who contributes as a community volunteer in an outstanding manner to enhance the lives of citizens in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

 

Environmental Achievement Award:

Purpose – To recognize individuals, groups or organizations that make an outstanding environmental contribution to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
