(Fort McMurray, AB – November 16, 2009) – Calendars featuring employees from the Fort McMurray Fire Department will be sold to the public with proceeds going to local charities, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo announced today.
The 2010 Fort McMurray Firefighter Calendar will be unveiled to the public and available for sale on Thursday, November 19. Each calendar is $20 and all proceeds go to local organizations and non-profit groups supported by the Fort McMurray Firefighters Charities Association. Calendars can be purchased at all four fire halls in Fort McMurray and at Paddy McSwiggins.
“We are always looking for new ways to give back to the community and this will be a great fundraiser,” said Adam Bugden, Fort McMurray Firefighters Charities Association. “Bettering our community begins with each of us taking a personal involvement and we have had a huge buy in from our guys in the department. It is going to be a lot of fun and the potential is there to raise a large amount of money.”
The calendar will be unveiled at Paddy McSwiggins at 8:00 p.m., November 19. The firefighters featured in the calendar will be in attendance and available to sign copies for those who purchase the calendar.
Organizations and non-profit groups receiving funds from the calendar include Lifeline Fort McMurray, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club, the Women’s Shelter, the Centre of Hope, and Santa’s Anonymous.
