(Fort McMurray, AB – November 19, 2009) – The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo will be recruiting for current and future employment opportunities at a career fair this weekend, the Human Resources Department announced today.
The career fair will be held at the Stonebridge Hotel on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Positions being recruited include Firefighter/EMT, Bylaw Services, Finance, Administration, Management, and Public Works. Human Resources Department representatives will also be on-hand to discuss future openings and career opportunities with the Municipality.
“We are looking for qualified people for a variety of positions,” said Neil Hunter, Director of the Human Resources Department. “The career fair is an opportunity to let the community learn about the Municipality as a top employer, and also for our department to better understand what sort of talent is in our community to recruit.”
In response to the rapid growth of the community, over the past year, the Municipality has hired more than 500 positions, and plans to continue hiring into 2010.
The Municipality will also be offering tutorials of the new online application process. The new system makes applying for a position with the Municipality a more streamlined process, and also makes the recruitment process more efficient. Anyone applying for positions with the Municipality is required to create a profile on the Municipality’s website, www.woodbuffalo.ab.ca.
