Starting at 7:30 p.m., residents will have an opportunity to view the film Radiant City, by Calgary filmmaker Gary Burns, and take part in a panel discussion on community planning at the Doug Schmidt Lecture Theatre at Keyano College, 8115 Franklin Avenue.
World Town Planning Day (WTPD) focuses on the progress of community planning, highlights the valuable contributions that sound planning has made to the quality of the human environment, and provides recognition of the ideals of community planning among the profession and the general public worldwide. This event is currently celebrated in about 30 countries on four continents.
About the film: As suburban communities are examined and criticized by a chorus of experts, filmmaker Gary Burns and journalist Jim Brown peer into the windows and lives of those who call suburbia home. Venturing into territory both familiar and foreign, they turn the documentary genre inside out, crafting a vivid account of life in the Late Suburban Age.
All members of the community are welcome to attend; there is no charge for the event. As seating is very limited, please RSVP to Carolyn Janes at .
