Dredging of Snye set to start; Snye Point to be closed to traffic

(Fort McMurray, AB – July 15, 2010) – Annual dredging and weed harvesting along the Snye will start next week, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo announced today.

Weed harvesting will start on Monday, July 19, 2010, while the starting date for dredging will be determined this month.

“The annual dredging and weed harvesting is conducted to ensure the Snye is safe for users,” said Christopher Rose, Parks Environmental Management Coordinator.

Residents are reminded to obey all posted signs and give workers enough space to conduct their work. The Municipality estimates weed harvesting and dredging will last for approximately two weeks.
