UPDATED: Fort Chipewyan Winter Road Closes

(Fort McMurray, AB – March 2, 2010) – Due to the forecasted warm weather and road conditions, the Fort Chipewyan winter road will close at 10 a.m. Wednesday March 3, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo announced today.

Travel on the winter road is strongly discouraged after the official closure date. The road can be extremely dangerous and anyone using it is doing so at their own risk. No maintenance on the winter road will occur after March 2 and all Delta signage will be removed. Please use extreme caution when passing workers.
