(Fort McMurray, AB – March 5, 2010) –The public is reminded to report potholes they see on local roads, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo announced today.
The Municipality’s Public Works Department traditionally starts filling potholes on a regular basis in early March. The pothole season lasts for the remainder of the year until winter freeze-up occurs. As temperatures increase, road crews will be able to access and fill more potholes each day.
In 2010, the Municipality will once again be using its Patch Kat machine. The Patch Kat patches potholes faster than traditional methods and the material used with the machine lasts longer than cold mix.
Residents who have concerns regarding potholes are encouraged to contact the Municipality. All calls are tracked and reported potholes are inspected and filled on a shift-by-shift basis. However, some potholes are unable to be patched until weather conditions improve.
For more information and to report a pothole, please call 780-743-7859.
